Botulinum Toxin for Facial Esthetics and Facial Muscle pain.

Dr. Coombs uses Botulinum Toxin, commonly known as Botox® or Xeomin® to smooth wrinkles in the forehead, corners of eyes (crow’s feet) and between the eyes (the 11’s).  It can also be used to improve an overly “gummy” smile.  Botulinum Toxin is injected into the muscle with a very fine gauge needle.  It doesn’t actually affect the muscle but rather blocks transmitters to the nerves relaxing the muscles.   There is no loss of sensory feeling but the muscle relaxes so the skin over it smooths.

Botulinum toxin is not just for cosmetics, it can also be used therapeutically. It can be injected into the facial muscles that are commonly affected by clenching and grinding the teeth.  Relaxing these muscles can settle the symptoms of TMJ dysfunction and related headaches and protect the teeth from the forces of grinding and clenching.

Dr. Coombs can inject dermal fillers like Belotero® and Radiesse® in the nasolabial folds, lips and marionette lines.  These FDA approved dermal fillers add volume and improve wrinkles giving you a refreshed look to enhance your beautiful smile and maximize your cosmetic outcome.

An orthodontist is particularly qualified in the area of cosmetic injectables because of their knowledge of facial anatomy.  Dr. Coombs can also provide a distinct advantage when it comes to dermal fillers by delivering a dental block before the procedure so you are comfortable.
